Sandia Search Dogs (SSD) is an all-volunteer organization that specializes in training and deploying dogs for human search and rescue (SAR). We provide wilderness search and rescue services in New Mexico and surrounding states. Most often the team assists with SAR missions within the Sandia, Manzano, and Jemez Mountains or other wilderness areas in the central part of the state. SSD deploys on missions in response to requests from the New Mexico State Police or other agencies to assist with missing person emergencies and human remains detection and recovery. We respond to SAR missions in all terrain and weather conditions. Diversified in background and by profession, members share a common interest in outdoor activities. The team applies a broad range of mountain and wilderness skills, bringing years of combined experience to search and rescue missions. We strive to maintain competent, skillful, and effective canine teams. SSD is also an active member of the New Mexico Search and Rescue Council (NMSARC).
